Our Framework Plan for CPBC Year 2009

The Council’s mission and mandate for this year:

To initiate, activate and advance a movement among business persons and corporations as well as other entities in the private sector in Canada to assist in the promotions in the Philippines by Canadian governmental agencies, industrial chambers and other entities of more Canadian products and services to Philippine importers and buyers in the private business sectors and in so doing strive for balance and equitable reciprocity in the trading of Canada with the Philippines.

Rationale:

For at least the past 10 years Canada has incurred consistent deficits in its balance of trade with the Philippines.  There is a need to address this trend by sourcing and working with Canadian exporters what products and services with promise of future growth can be developed and promoted for Philippine importers / traders / business entrepreneurs of all sizes, and creating keener awareness and interest among Canadian governmental, industrial and related entities about this situation.

Our theme for this Council year is

TOWARDS BALANCE & EQUITABLE RECIPROCITY
IN CANADA-PHILIPPINES TRADING

Strategies:

The ways to reach the objective within this over-arching theme will be by:

1. Strengthening the integrity of the Council through the active and purposeful participation of members in Council affairs and events.

2. Expanding the membership of the Council, inviting and involving more individuals and corporations throughout Canada in matters of Canada-Philippines economic, social and cultural relations.

3. Assisting in increasing the volume and value of Canada's exports to the Philippines, with particular emphasis on encouraging and supporting as best we can those of the enterprises of Canadians of Filipino origin.

4. Cooperating with the programs of the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines and the Philippine Embassy in Canada in the expansion of investment, trading, human resource, tourism, development, and other bilateral socio-economic endeavors.
